WCC OverPowered

Last years Pickwick champions started their cup defence with hopefully just a little hiccup. WCC's batting and fielding worries continued in this match. But again there was a good performance by WCC bowlers, who bowled a tight line and length and kept PowerCC players under pressure. Had those couple of drop catches been taken the result might well have been a positive one for WCC.

After all the bad weather of the previous day, the match started with a delay of 15 minutes under partly cloudy skies. Power CC captain won the toss and invited WCC to bat first on damp and slow pitch. WCC lost their opening pair quickly but the middle order bats managed to keep the scoreboard ticking over but generally only in singles. Power CC bowled well and kept taking wickets on a regular basis. WCC managed to hit only a handful of boundaries and ended up scoring 76 in their 20 overs.

WCC started their defence of the total with the opening bowling paor of Nasir and Waqar, The two kept Power CC top order under pressure, especially Waqar and Rahman bowled with good accuracy, line and length. Power CC could only manage 25 Runs after 9 overs. Until the 13th over WCC managed to keep the pressure on Power CC and at one point WCC looked to be in control of the match, but then the Power CC captain came to the wicket. WCC managed to drop him twice in one over and with that help he managed to hit a couple of sixes which reduced their target greatly, enabling their middle order batsman to score rest of the runs with ease.

Overall it was very good performance by WCC bowlers and apart from the dropped catches, the fielders also did a good job.
